PIN-POINT RAID

HOLLAND V-2 SITE POWER-DIVE BOMBING (10 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 7 R.A.F. Spitfires made a pin-point attack on a V-Two component store and launching site, situated in a park in the middle of a large Dutch town The site was almost in the shadow of a mansion. Direct hits were scored but tire Spitfires were unable tc follow up their power-dive bombing with cannon assault for fear of causing civilian casualties. Tire V-Two storage and launching site was in Tire Hague, under 300 yards from the former palace of the Prince of Orange’s consort, and the scene of the first International Peace Conference in 1899. This is the first announcement that rocket-bombs are launched from The Hague, The Germans sited the installatio’ in the park surrounding the Peace Palace, hoping that the fear of causing civilian damage and casualties would prevent an R.A.F. attack, but, says the Air Ministry, news service, they reckoned without the Fighter Command’s pin-point fighter-bombers. Other Spitfires, including Polishelements, bombed and strafed V-Two erection and launching sites elsewhere in occupied Holland, following up with cannon assaults on transport believed to be directly concerned with the rocket operations. None of our planes is missing.
