NEW COMMAND

GENERAL STILWELL CHINA COAST"SUGGESTED SYDNEY. Oct. 30. The impression is emerging that General Stilwell's recall to the United States is linked with the dramatic American successes in the Philippines. These successes are clearing the way for an assault on the China coast —and General Stilwell would be a logical commander for an army task force assaulting that coast, says a New York correspondent of the Sydney Morning Herald. General Stilwell, who was raised recently to full general for his victories in Burma, is one of the United States Army’s foremost experts on Japan, and probably better understands the problems of a China landing than any other Allied leader.
