Dingle Foot, in the House oi Commons, discussing Germany’s food situation, said that although the weather had been very favourable throughout last winter and spring, during this summer most of the crops in Germany, particularly the root and fodder crops, suffered a prolonged and widespread drought. Oats, barley and potatoes suffered considerably while the shortage of fodder crops is likely to affect the livestock 2 nation.
“Preparations: were under way for the premature . lughter of a number of young pigs,” he said. "This may create some temporary meat surplus but will probably lead to a shortage later.
