FORCES LINK UP IN BEVELAND
BRITISH SUCCESS IN HOLLAND
MORE GAINS BY CANADIAN TROOPS (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (11 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 29. British Second Army forces in Holland have captured Breda, which has been cleared except for snipers, and Loon Op Zand. The Canadians have captured Wouwsche on the main road from Bergen Op Zoom to Roosendaal. The Canadians are continuing to pour into South Beveland Island and have driven farther westward and captured Kapelle, two miles east of Goes
and also Gravenpolder, four miles south of Goes. They have linked up with the seaborne force which was landed on the Eeveland coast. Breda was entered by a column of General Dempsey’s mobile infantry and tanks which was formed westwards along the Tilburg-Breda road. The town was entered on Sunday morningafter a short pause following the over-running of the village of Dorset about four miles* eastwards on Saturday. By Sunday afternoon the troops had cleared Breda of the main body of enemy Resistance, later hunting out enemy nests and snipers’ posts. ' Breda is the fourth Dutch town to fall to the British and Canadians in the past two days.
