LEND-LEASE PLAN
EXTENSION TO JUNE, 1945 u.s. senate’s" approval (9 a.m.) WASHINGTON, May 9. The United Stales Senate, by (53 votes to one, approved the extension on le Lend-Lease programme to June 20, 1945. It stipulated that President Roosevelt shall be prohibited from making any post-war military or economic commitment in lend-lease settlements.
(the amendment restricting President Roosevelt was moved by Senator Vandenberg, who claimed that Mr. Roosevelt had ignored the Senate foreign Relations Committee’s clear mandate based on constitutional grounds against concluding post-war military and economic agreements.
