JAPAN STAYS HAND
ASSAULT ON INDIA SUGGESTION BY HITLER (9.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Sept. 27. Senator Claude Pepper told the Senate that it is reported in Washington official circles that Herr Hitler told Japan to delay her attack against India until he was also ready to attack. After that the Japanese would attack on one side and the Germans on the other. “Germany, Italy and Japan stand united,” said the German Foreign Minister. Herr von Ribbentrop, broadcasting on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Axis pact. “Despite our tremendous victories, the enemy is still contesting our gains. Hard battles lie ahead. The three Powers will continue to defeat the enemy wherever he be.”
