SHEEP VALUES STEADY WESTFIELD MARKET (P.A.) AUCKLAND, this day. At the Westfield stock sale yesterday, a moderate entry of ox beef sold under keen competition and quotations were firm on last week. For a small offering of cows and heifers, the demand also was keen and values improved Is per lOtllb. Extra choice ox made to 37s per 1001 b.; choice and prime, 34s to 365; secondary and plain, 30s to 325; extra prime young cow and heifer, 29s to 335; choice and prime, 25s to 275; ordinary cow beef, 21s to 235. Extra heavy prime steers made £l4 10s to £l6 ss; heavy, £l2 15s to £l4; lighter, £ll to £l2 ss; light. £lO to £lO 15s; small and unfinished, £S to £9 10s; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £lO 5s to £ll 15s; heavy, £9 to £10; lighter, £7 to £8 12s 6d; others, £4 5s to £6 1 Os. A full average entry of sheep sold steadily and quotations for all classes remained the same as last week. Extra heavy prime wethers made £1 19s to £2 0s 3d; heavy, £1 17s to £1 18s; medium, £1 14s 6d to £1 10s; light, £1 10s (id to £1 13s; plain and unfinished, £1 5s to £1 8s 6d; extra heavy prime young and maiden ewes, £1 5s to £1 8s; heavy, £1 3s 6d to £1 4s 6d: lighter. £1 Is 6d to £1 2s 6d; plain and aged, 17s to £1 ; others, 7s to 16s. A good entry of lambs was well competed for and a steady sale resulted. Extra heavy prime lambs made £1 Ss to £1 Us 3d; heavy. £1 6s to £1 7s; medium, £1 3s Gd to £1 ss; lighter, £1 to £1 2s; light, 17s to 18s 6<l; small and plain, 7s 6d to 12s 6d. An average yarding of calves came forward. . Bidding was very keen for all prime runners and vealers, and values generally were fully firm at late quotations. Runners made £5 to £9 12s; heavy vealers, £6 to £7 12s; medium, £5 to £5 15s; light, £4 to £4 15s; small, £1 to £3 15s; unfinished and bucket fed, 10s to £1 10s; bobby and rough, 5s to ISs. There was a small entry of baconers which realised late quotations, but porkers were in short supply and were keenly competed for. Values were again higher than last week’s extreme prices. Choppers made £1 10s to £2 15s; heavy baconers, £4 12s to £4 19s; medium, £4 4s to £4 8s; light. £3 16s to £4 2s; heavy porkers, £4 to £4 7s; medium, £3 Ss'to £3 16s; light, £3 to £3 ss; small and unfinished, £2 5s to £2 15s; stores, £1 15s to £3 7s; slips, J.T 5s to £1 11s; weaners, 10s to £1 2s.
