VULCANIZER WANTED
CAMP RELEASE SOUGHT Included in appeals heard by the Gisborne Armed Forces Appeal Board to-day was an application for the release from camp of a vulcanizer to assist in a tyre-retreading business. Release from camp of E. M. McKenzie, vulcanizer, was sought by his employers, Butcher and Martin. In evidence, B. Girling Butcher said that owing to the acute shortage of tyres in the district, retreading had greatly increased. There were so many tyres to be retreaded that he was 80 tyres behind. A trained man was necessary for the job, as faulty workmanship would ruin a tyre, and consequently would cause a wastage of rubber. the board decided to reserve its decision in order to make inquiries regarding the release of another reservist,
