“TIDE WILL TURN”

DOMINION’S FAITH NEW YEAR GREETINGS (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, has despatched the following message to the Prime Minister, Mr. Winston Churchill, in reply to his Christmas greetings from Washington: "Your seasonal message was received with very deep appreciation. My colleagues and I cordially extend to you every good wish and all good fortune for the new year. Days of difficulty and disappointment may lie ahead of us all, but we have no doubts the tide will turn and, under your inspiring leadership and President Roosevelt’s, the cause of the democratic nations Will ultimately triumph. Though New Zealand is now within the theatre of war, the people face the future with all confidence and I can assure you they will meet all the dangers and perils with fortitude and courage equal to that of their kinsfolk in the British Isles.
