GISBORNE CRICKET
DAMAGE TO WICKETS DRAW FOR SATURDAY At a meeting of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association's management committee last night it was reported that irresponsible boys were damaging the Oval wickets on Sunday by walking and cycling over them while they were in a damp state and interfering with the gear on the Oval. The committe decided to keep a watch to take suitable action if the damage continued. Competition points to date were reported as follows:—Senior A Grade.—City, 31; Marist, 26; Old Boys-Civil Service. 25; G.H.5.0.8., 14. Senior B Grade. —Marist, 31- High School A, G.H.5.0.8., 19; Gisborne Club, 18; High School B, 16. The draw for next Saturday was made as follows:—Senior A Grade.—Marist v. G.H.S. O. Oval, No. 3: City v. Old Boys-Civil Service, Oval No. '2. Senior B Grade. —High School A v. G.H.5.0.8., Oval No. 4; Marist v. Gisborne Club, Oval No. 1; High School B, u bye. Junior Grade.—High School A v. Intermediate B, Oval representative wicket; Marist v. Intermediate A, High School Rectory wicket; High School v. High School Rectory, to be played later in the season. These will be the final junior mntches until the resumption of school after the holidays. Mr. Bignafl was granted the use of No. 3 wicket for Sunday for a match between P. and T. Department and the Buffs. Those present at the meeting were Messrs. P. C. Dwyer, chairman; V. C. R. Mitford,: A. E. Bignall, B. Lee, R. H. Cook, G. G. Slade, M, R. Robinson, M. H. Beuth, G. A. Revell, J. Crawford-Smith, and the hon. secretary, Mr. D. A. Wells.
