‘WORK OR STARVE’
NAZIS CONTROL FOOD NORWEGIANS’ PLIGHT RATIONED ON LABOUR (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) i Reed. Dec. 3, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 2. The threat of work-or-starve underlies the issue of the Nazi commissioner in Norway, Herr Terboven. of labour cards regulating the distribution of food in proportion to the amount of work done. The Norwegian news agency quotes the newspaper Frittvolk which clarifies the purpose of the labour cards as follows: “Germany is Norway's only helper in time of need, and is entitled to lay down conditions of help.'Those who do not work to full capacity are not entitled to receive the same quantity as those using their full energies.”
The paper adds that labour cards will be withheld from those who are actively opposing collaboration.
