CATTLE PRICES FIRMER ADDINGTON YARDS (Per Presß Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. With the advent of the freezing season fat lainb values were stabilised at schedule values, on the Addington market yesterday, except for heavier weights which butchers bought ahead of the export limits for this class For a first-of-the-senson entry, the penning of 1300 was of good class. First grade ranged from 22s to 24s 9d, and prime heavy weights from 25s to 28s. The store sheep entry contained a number of lines from Marlborough and the intervening districts and there was a. very •free sale for till classes at about last week s rates. Local wethers sold at up to 18s, and Marlborough lines from ills 7(1 to lbs 8d; Odrriednle hoggets made up to 32s for aii outstanding line in the wool and shorn ■ wethers to 20s fid. Elves and lambs sold well the best making up to 17s 3d all ’■ counted, others to 15s ltd and odd lots from 1 Is up. 'A normal entry of 4500 bead of fat sheep mostly of good quality wethers, sold at. up to last week’s prices, with ewes a shade easier. Export buyers were in the a market, but .could secure very few pons. Ewes are still about Gs and wethers 2s a head above the schedule rates. The best wethers made from 24s to 28s till; good . medium weight, 21s fid to 23s fid; good ewes, 17s Cd to 24s fid; average, Its fid . lo J 7s; light, to tis fid. In thi! fat cattle pens there was a smaller entry of 488 head. Prime light and medium." weights were a shade firmer, hut other classes were unchanged, with old cows lower. The best beef made from 30s to 40s; medium, 33s to 35s (id; secondary, 32s fid; inferior to 24s per 1001 b. Heavy prime cattle made from £H> to £lB ss; •prime medium, £l4 10s to £IG; ordinary, £l2 10s to £l4; prime heifers to £ls 12s fid; rough cows, £-1 10. x to £5 15s. Eat. pigs represented much I lie heaviest entry of the year, and, as a result, values for pork went down by 3s a head and for bacon by 4s to 5s u head, l’orkcrs made from £1 Ufa fid to £3 2s (id, the average price being 7d to 8d per lb.
