INTENSE ’QUAKE

WELLINGTON RECORDS 11,000 MILES DISTANT (Ter Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 27. An earthquake of great severity was recorded on the instruments at the Dominion Observatory. The distance from Wellington is computed at 11,000 miles. The first tracings were at (i. 24 n.m. yesterday and a continuous record was traced for nearly three hours. If the centre of the quake was anywhere near an inhabited land, the mass movement is considered bound to have had a very destructive effect. It may, however, have occurred under the sea and nothing more may be heard of it.
