TOKOMARU BAY NEWS

(Herald Correspondent.) During the monthly meeting of the Tokomaru Bay branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, members , stood in silence as a mark of respect to the late Mr. H. E. Maude, Gisborne, and Lieutenant A. G. Hultquist, M.P. Miss H. Tipuna was enrolled as a junior member and was accorded a hearty welcome. The roll call, a Maori proverb, was well responded to. The president won the competition, an Underarm pad. The pads will be given to the Red Cross Society. The branch has also donated £1 to the Native school funds.

Mr. J. Babbington, Waima, has left- for -a fortnight’s holiday in Wairoa and Napier.—Recent visitors to Gisborne included Miss G. Hills, and Mesdarr.es P. Pewhairangi and C. Babbington.
