BAY OF PLENTY SEAT
OPENING OF CAMPAIGN The campaign for the Bay of Plenty by-election rendered necessary by the death of Lieutenant A. G. Hultquist promises to be short and sharp. The election takes place on December 13, only three weeks from to-day and in order to cover the scattered electorate the candidates will be requided to address two and three meetings a day. The National Party candidate, Mr. W. Sullivan, has already planned meetings for the greater part of next week. Opening his campaign in Te Araroa on Monday evening, he will work down the Coast, speaking at Hicks Bay, Ruatoria, Tikitiki, Tokomaru Bay, Whangara and Tolaga Bay, this programme keeping him occupied until Thursday evening. On Friday morning he will sueak at Otoko and later on in the day will address other meetings which have yet to be arranged.
