TOKOMARU BAY NEWS
(Herald Correspondent.) Mr. and Mrs. K. Roskruge and small daughter, Sally, have left for an extended holiday, to be spent in Hawke’s Bay and Wellington. During Mr. Roskruge’s absence, Mr. Blennerhassit is relieving manager in ,the Bank of New Zealand, Tokomaru Bay. —Mrs. A, P. Orr is visiting Gisborne. —Miss F. Davis, Hawke's Bay, who has been renewing friendships in Tokomaru Bay, has been the guest of Miss Hills, of the mission house. On Friday Miss Davis left to visit her sister, Mrs. Halliwell, Whakaangiangi.—Mrs. N. Coombes, of the Tokomaru Bay Post Office, has received notice of a transfer to the Ruatoria office. —Mrs. H. Johnson has returned to Tokomaru Bay after a short visit to Tolaga Bay. At last week’s meeting of Red Cross workers there was a good attendance. A large packing case of warm winter garments for refugees was filled and forwarded to the Lady Galway Patriotic Guild, Wellington. In' addition, a carton of matinee jackets, pants and boys’ suits, the work of the girls of the Tokomaru Bay Public School, was packed and sent to Wellington. Besides these, six scarves, five bedcapes and 19 bed socks were ‘‘orwarded to the Red Cross depot in Gisborne.
On Friday afternoon in the Masonic Hall, Tokomaru Bay, the Presbyterian Ladies' Guild held a most successful "bring and buy” in aid of the church funds. The stall-holders were:—Plain and fancy sewing, Mesdames Doig and K. McKay; produce, Mrs. J. L. King; cakes and sweets, Mrs. Hibbert; afternoon tea, Mesdames MacDonald, H. Gardner, E. Knox and Ersman.
