TEACHER SUCCEEDS

CLAIM FOR WAGES (Per Preen Association.) NAPIER, this day. Judgment for the plaintiff, Norman John Frank Scnk, a former sole teacher at Ti Tree Point School, was entered by the magistrate against the Hawke’s Bay Education Board in a reserved decision yesterday. Senk claimed £25 13s 4d as the balance of wages following the termination of his engagement as the outcome of an appeal on conscientious grounds against military service.

The magistrate commented at length on conscientious objectors and the board's attitude, and said the main point was whether the plaintiff had asked, when he was informed that parents would not send children to the school, to be relieved of his duties forthwith and given a position elsewhere.
