HAWAII PREPARED

WAR PLAN IN READINESS LOS ANGELES, Aug. 30. Plans to make Hawaii self-support-ing in -the event of war in the Pacific are complete. Picked G-men have prepared foolproof anti - sabotage measures for all vulnerable points. Leading citizens have been drafted in an anti-sabotage army. They have been instructed at the University of Hawaii in all protective measures. Sites for concentration camps for internment of suspected aliens have been prepared. The Japanese colony numbers 157.000, or 37 per cent of Hawaii’s total population. The problem of food supply has been solved. Normally, the Hawaiian Islands import about 03 per cent of foodstuffs for their population of 423,330. Plans officially endorsed in Washington provide for a rapid allround increase in local food production to meet any emergency. Pearl Harbour, claimed by Americans to be the most powerful base in the world, is equipped with all facilities to enable the United States Pacific Fleet to operate on a war basis indefinitely, from Hawaii. To avoid congestion at Pearl Harbour the navy plans to use the £2.280,000 Kaneohe Bay base as its main Hawaiian air base.
