MOTORISTS’ PROTEST
PETROL RESTRICTIONS STATE BUS SERVICES PARALLEL WITH RAILWAY (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. Strong criticism of the Government’s action in further restricting the petrol allowances of motorists dependent upon their cars for a livelihood, while Government bus services were still operating parallel to the railway lines and carrying out unnecessary special trips, was expressed at a meeting of the committee of the Automobile Association (Otago), last night. A resolution on these lines was carried. It was decided to urge also that where bus services run parallel to the railway for the latter part of the journey, they be allowed to operate only from the most convenient railway station near the place where they first meet the rail.
