LUCKY NAVAL OFFICER LONDON, July 19. For the third time Lieutenant-Com-mander Anthony Burnell-Nugent, D.S.C., has been saved from a destroyer sunk by enemy action. Tlis last escape was revealed by the recent Admiralty announcement that the destroyer Jersey had been sunk by a mine. Lieutenant - Commander BurnellNugent was in command of H.M.S. Havant, bombed and sunk during the evacuation of Dunkirk. Next he was in command of 11.M.5. Hostile, which was sunk by an enemy mine. The Hostile had played a prominent part in the first and second battles of Narvik. Lieutenant - Commander BurnellNugent was awarded the D.S.C. in December, 1939, “for successful actions against enemy submarines.” At that time he was in command of H.M.S. Walpole.
