FARM LABOUR NEEDS

DIVERSION WANTED WOMEN AND GIRLS (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Advice that the national council was not taking steps in the meantime to "deal with the question of impressing farm labour, was received at a meeting of the Auckland Council of Primary Production to-day. “There is an enormous amount of male labour working in places where it is not necessary. Female labour also is not being used in the right places,” said Colonel N. P. Adams, chairman. Mr. R. C. Clark. Where is it? In corset factories, for one thing,’ replied Colonel Adams, -adding that women were capable of doing more essential work, for instance, in uniform factories. He said the only way to get farm labour was by action. The dairy factories were not going to appeal for any more single men. Girls could do good work in these factories if allowed. In a few weeks, farm labour would be wanted urgently. The meeting decided to reply to the national council, stating that the question was so important that the Auckland council regretted the delayin talcing it up. Attention was drawn to the large number of newspaper advertisements seeking farm labour.
