BURNHAM CAMP
CONVALESCENT DEPOT RECOVERY OF SICK (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Plans for the establishment of a convalescent and graduated training depot at Burnham mobilisation camp, have been approved and the erection of the necessary buildings will begin soon. The depot, which will be available for territorials and expeditionary force recruits alike, will accommodate approximately 150 men, but provision has been made for its expansion to take up to 3000 soldiers. It will be under the direction of a medical officer and will be staffed by male attendants, including a masseur. It will be a recuperative institution for men who, after their discharge from hospital, are not fit enough to undertake routine camp training. During the final stages of their convalescence, they will be given graduated training so that, o.i their return to camp, they will be fit to take their places with their units.
