ANOTHER SUCCESS

“FIRST MRS. FRASER” REPERTORY PRODUCTION Another success was scored by the producer. Miss Ellen Millar, in the presentation of the Gisborne Repertory Society’s production, “The First Mrs. Fraser.” in the Opera House last night. The play was an enjoyable comedy by St. John Ervine.

The principal parts in the cast were played by Mrs. Frances Burns as Tanet Fraser, Mr. A. J. Nicol as James Eraser, and Mr. Brian Muir as Ninian Fraser. These three main characters, around which the story developed, played their parts excellently, Mrs. Burns playing the central figure m the plot with a fine understanding of her part. In the minor parts Phillip Logan was played by Mr. Gilbert Burns, Elsie Fraser by Miss Phyllis Mortimer, Murdo Fraser by Mr. David Lougher. Alice Fraser by Miss Margaret Shone, and Mabel by Miss Lsobel Coleman. They carried out their roles in a well-rehearsed style and kept high the general tone ot the production. Artistic Setting As the play moved through the various stages there was little need tor altering the settings because all the scenes were confined to a fiat occupied by Janet Fraser. The settings had been carefully prepared and were a credit to Mesdames W. C. Kohn, F. H. Bull, and A. W. Harper. There was a fair attendance of the public, despite the wintry conditions, and the audience was not slow to show its appreciation of the many humorous situations that were unfolded with the complications in the married life of Mr. James Fraser as he angled for his second divorce. The trapping of the second Mrs. Fraser by the first Mrs. Fraser was cleverly executed with the assistance of an ardent admirer of Janet. Mr. Phillip Logan, who gave a little too much of his attention to fishing to be thought of as a .catch by the woman whose company he desired. Musical interludes were provided by an 'orchestra conducted by Mr. W. C. Kohn.
