Answering a question in the House of Commons, the Foreign Secretary, Mr. Anthony Eden, said that increased tension in the Far East had arisen over certain events, notably over the dispute between Indo-China and Thailand. The Japanese official spokesman made a statement to the press yesterday which had no doubt come to the attention of members.

The Foreign Secretary said he had received from the Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs a special message in a curious memorandum and on the same general lines as the statement referred to. The terms of these communications were at present receiving consideration,

A communique issued to-day from General Headquarters in the Far East states: “The British air forces in the Far East have received powerful reinforcements of modern bombers, twinengined fighters and single-engine fighters. The aircraft are now stationed in various areas of strategic importanct.”
