ESCAPE IN CLOUD BRITISH ATTACKS (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 3 p.m. RUGBY, Aug, 15. A communique issued in Nairobi states: “Yesterday Wajir was bombed by three Capronis. A number of heavy .bombs were dropped, causing no damage. At the time of the raid our fighters were in the air and immediately engaged the Capronis, which escaped in low cloud. “There was no activity by our ground troops. Our air reconnaissance penetrated deep into southern Abyssinia.” It was officially stated in Rome today that bombers attacked aircraft installations at Malta with complete success. Heavy - calibre incendiary bombs were used. "Four Hurricanes attacked the bombers, which our fighters extricated,” stated the Italian report. “One British plane was shot down, the pilot baling out.”
