GISBORNE’S ASSETS

WAIKANAE BEACH CLUB CONGRATULATED “Its early decision to concentrate on the embellishment of a wonderful asset in the Waikanae Beach has been more than justified, and to one who has had no opportunity of seeing the partial development, except in effect, the transformation so far accomplished is an eye-opener,” writes Mr. L. N. Harris, formerly of Gisborne and now residing in Auckland, in a letter to the president of the Gisborne Thirty Thousand Club, Mr. James Chrisp.

During the .Christmas vacation Mr. Harris visited Gisborne and was keenly interested in the work of the club, of which he was the first secretary. He had not been in Gisborne for the past three years.

“I suppose it is one of the inevitable accompaniments of the war that there must be a slackening off of effort when bigger things call, but I [feel sure that ‘ll’ie public of Gis. borne are whole-heartedly behind the movement and will not allow it to languish,” concluded the writer.
