BOWLERS’ GATHERING ROAD TO WELLINGTON FORTNIGHT TOURNAMENT Bowlers from the Gisborne-Easi Coast centre district who left to-day for Wellington were among the first in New Zealand to begin the large-scale pilgrimage of enthusiasts who are to take part in the annual championship tournament of the New Zealand Bowling Association, commencing on Monday, January 8. The advance-guard of the Poverty Bay contingent will be followed by the main party, and by Monday thei e will be a total of 18 from this district among the unusually large number of competitors at the championship fixture. Play in the tournament opens on Monday with the full rinks section, and in this the Gisborne Bowling Club will have three entries, and the Kahutia club one. The Gisborne rinks comprise E. F. O’Brien, W. Neal, W. Riddell and F. Williams (s), E. S. Molony. H. E. Bright, J. H. Walkei and I. Stephenson (s), and E. A. Parkinson, H. Watson, H. Gilmer and E. Crowley (s), while Kahutia will be represented by C. T. C. Hands, C. G. Vail. P. Meredith and J. E. Newton (s). All the players named above have nominated for the pairs championship, which will follow the rinks, the pairing of district players being: RiddellWilliams. Watson-Gilmer, MolonyBright, O’Brien-Neal, Vail-Meredith, and" Walker-Stephenson. An additional entry for the pairs will comprise P. W. Smith and G. Henderson, of the Gisborne club.

In the singles championship, this centre will be represented by I. Stephenson, E. S. Molony. H. E. Bright. C. T. C. Hands, J. H. Walker, E. Crowley. H. Gilmer. H. Watson and C. G. Vail.

It is expected that several of the district entries will do well in all divisions of the tournament.
