ANTI-SUBMARINE NET
' NEW BRITISH TYPE WASHINGTON, Dee. 2. According to well-informed sources here, United States naval officials have learned that Great Britain has developed a new type of anti-submarine net far superior to anything in the United States. These sources described the net as being composed of a steel mesh small enough to stop torpedoes ana strong enough to snare submarines. They said no information was available as to details of the device.
Congressional sources said the United States Navy may ask Congress for £8,000.000 to provide similar protection to United States harbours, par ticularly those used by the fleet.
