EAST COAST CATTLE MORRINSVILLE SALE GROWN STEERS TO £9 Store cattle from the East Coast were offered at the Morrinsville stock sale cn Friday. They arrived in fair condition, but competition was not so keen as at previous sales, and prices were easier.
The beef section comprised mainly females, and values remained firm under keen competition. A small yarding of fat sheep realised late rates.
Quotations obtained by the Farmers’ Cooperative Auctioneering Company, Limited, included the following:—
Store Cattle. Grown Hereford steers. £8 17s Gd to £9; two and threevear Heretord steers, £t’> to £7 10s: smaller, £5 to £5 10s; mixed coloured steers, £3 to £4 ss; empty Polled Angus cows, £5 10s; empty Hereford cows. £4 12s (id: two-year Hereford and Polled Angus heifers. £4 is to £4 Its; smaller, £3 12s; 12 to 18-months Polled Angus heifers, £2 5s to £2 19s.
Fat Ca'.l’e. —He; vy fat Polled Angus cows. £9 7s Gd to £9 19s; heavy fat Shorthorn heifers, £9: heavy fat Jersey cows, £7 9s to £8 Ids; medium £6 5s to £7; light, £4 15s to £5 10s; light fat Jersey heifers, £4 13s to £5. Sheep.—Light fat shorn wethers, 24s 6d to 25s 3d; heavy fat shorn ewes, 19s to 20s; light fat shorn hoggets, 19s Gd to 2ls Gd; fat woolly hoggets, 24s to 275; for.vard-ccnditioned woolly hoggets, 18s Gd to 20s.’’
