CARD EVENING (Hi*raid Correspondent.) The second of a series of fortnightly flag five-hundred evenings, held in thye Makaraka-Matawhero Hall on Wednesday and organised by the Makaraka branch of the Labour Party, proved very popular. At the conclusion of cards a dainty supper was served by the ladies’ committee. The prize-winners were—Ladies; Mrs. Ashdown. 1; Mrs. Jackson, 2. Gentlemen: Mr. Heaslip, 1; Mr. Wcastall, 2. Winning table, most flags:—Mrs. Ashdown, Mrs. Smith. Mr. Heaslip, and Mr. Reidy. Travelling envelope:—Mrs. Ashdown The Makaraka-Matawhero Ilal! Committee has decided to hold a dance in the hall on the first Show night.
