MAORI RECRUITING

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. As a result of representations by members of the race, the period allotted for the recruiting of the Maori battalion has been extended till the end of the month. The total enlistments are now 515, being as follows: —Northern district, 399; central, 99; southern, 17. It is anticipated that the battalion will draw about 50 from the ranks of the special force.
