WOOL IN DEMAND

UNITED STATES TRADE BRITISH RELEASE LIKELY

GOOD PRICE POSSIBLE BUILDING UP BALANCES (Rccd. Oct. 21, 1 p.m.) NEW YORK, Oct. 20. The New York World-Telegram stales that authoritative observers in the wool trade are confident that the British Government will shortly arA nounce a decision to release part of the Australian and New Zealand wool clips to the United States and other countries. This year tiic need for imports by 'he United States is more acute than usual, due to a combination of low domestic supplies and above average consumption. Supplies of apparel wools in the United States on September 1 were 13 per cent under the 10-year average. It is realised that the neutrality law may be an important factor in regard to wool, since Allied purchases from the United States will require dollar balances which could be created through the sale of Australian and New Zealand wool at good prices.
