FIGURES DISPROVED
(Deed. Ocl. 21, 1 p.m.) LONDON. Oct. 20. A message from Paris states that authoritative military circles, commenting on yesterday’s German communique unequivocally declare that the claims concerning prisoners, and British and French plane losses are absolutely false and the proportion of wounded and dead German lists contrary to experience in modern warfa re.

A message despatched from Berlin on Thursday said it was claimed by the German High Command that Germany had lost only 11 planes on the Western Front since the commencement of the war. whereas France and Britain had lost 60, including 12 British
The German High Command also claimed that the Germans tool-: as prisoners 25 French officers and 664 other ranks. The communique gave the German losses on the Western Front up to Tuesday as 196 dead. 250 wounded and 114 missing, ’ and declared that since September 9 no serious fighting had occurred. The communique generally minimised the French successes and occupation of German territory, but admitted that the Germans had not crossed the French frontier.
