EARLY PIONEER DEAD

MRS. ELIZA ROCKEL

(Pit Press Association.) WANGANUI, this day. The death has occurred of Mrs. Eliza Rockel, in her ninety-seventh year. She was born in Wellington in 1012 and was believed to be the oldest New Zealand-born woman. After her marriage in 1866 she lived in Masterlon for two years and for 40 years in the Carnarvon district, coming to Wanganui. 19 years ago on the death of hed husband.
