NEW YORK OPINION POWERFUL DETERRENT (Reed. Oct. 21, 9 a.nO NEW YORK, Oct. 20 The interpretive writer of the Associated Press of America comments that the Anglo-Turkish pact reduced to its simplest terms, is a pact calculated to act as a powerful deterrent to Russian and Italian involvement in lire present war. The commentator suggests that it also seeks to limit the conflict to the Allied siege of Germany—to a battle of economic endurance instead of the clashing of armies and tends to oflsci the German coup which made Russia her partner.
