THE WEATHER
Last Night’s Forecast General situation: Pressure continues high to the north and is now rising in the South Island following the passage of a westerly depression. Forecast: Some local north-wester-lies at first east of the ranges', of the North Island, otherwise moderate to strong south-westerlies to southerlies prevailing, later decreasing gradually in force and tending more westerly. Seas: In 1 New Zealand waters, rather rough north of Westport and rising somewhat south of Castlepoint, otherwise slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman: Westerly winds moderate in the north with moderate seas, strong at times in the south with rather rough seas. Weather: For the most part fair, rather changeable, however, with some scattered showers. Temperatures: Cool to-night, but rising slowly, to-morrow. To-day’s North Island Report Overcast weather was general today from the East Cape to Wellington, and only slightly better atmospheric conditions were enjoyed on parts o.f the island with a more northerly aspect. The barometric pressure was fairly steady, but the direction of the wind had changed from the west to the south. The highest temperature was experienced at Tauranga, the reading being 64 degrees. Points north of Napier enjoyed warmer weather than those to the south. Visibility was poor at Castlepoint, but generally good elsewhere. Seas were reported- to be rough at Cape Maria Van Diemen. Castlepoint, Cape Palliser and' Wellington. and smooth to moderate at other parts’of the coast.
