LODGE AFFAIRS
GISBORNE REBEKAH OFFICERS INSTALLED A meeting of the Gisborne Rebekah Lodge, 1.0.0. F., was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall. Derby street, recently. Sister Fryer, N.G., presiding over a good attendance. A vote of sympathy was passed with Bro. Castles on the death of his wife. A lengthy sick list was reported. One new candidate was proposed. A social afternoon was arranged for October 31. in the Derby Street Hail. The D.D.G.M., Bro. E. E. Somervell, was admitted, accompanied by the P.D.D.G.M., Bro. Hunter, G.L.R.. Bro. Kennedy, and P.G.L.R., Bro. J. Smith, and the following installing officers: Grand marshal, Sister E. Ryan, P.G.: D.G. warden, Sister Hunter, P.G.; D.G. chaplain, Sister Jensen, P.G.; D.G. financial secretary, Sister Barradeii; P.G.; D.G. recording secretary. Sister Edwards, P.G.: D.G. treasurer, Sister Hall, P.G. The following officers were installed to their respective chairs for the next six months:—Noble grand, Sister E. England; V. Grand, Sister Sutton; financial secretary, Sister Cornelius, P.G.: recording secretary. Sister Robinson, P.G.; treasurer, Sister O’Connell, P.G.; warden, Sister' M. O’Connell; conductor, Sister Traue; chaplain, Sister Wells; R.S.N.G., Sister Foster, P.G.; L.S.N.G.. £L:ier Norman; R.S.V.G., Sister Hollis; L.S.V.G,, Sister Hunter; P.G., Sister Atkins; 1.G.P.G., Sister Wilcox; O.G. musician, Sister Ledger: altar supports, Sister Davison, P.G., and Sister Tarr; M.C., Sister Hislop, P.G. Presentation to Sister Wilcox
At the conclusion of the ceremony Bro. Somervell thanked all taking part and presented a past grand’s collar to Sister Wilcox.
Rebekahs and husbands were invited to a social evening which is to be held next Tuesday in the Mangapapa Hall to farewell Bro. Kennedy, who leaves for Trentham soon. There will also be a social and dance in the Derby Street Hal] next Thursday evening.
At the close of the meeting members sat down to a sumptuous supper, and the following toasts were honoured:— “The King,” proposed by the D.D.G.M.; “Grand Lodge,” proposed by Sister Barradeii, P.G., and replied to by Grand Lodge representatives, Bros. Harvey and Kennedy; “Installed Officers,” proposed by P.G., Sister Hall, and responded to by the N.G., Sister English; “Installing Officers,” proposed by Sister Sutton, and replied to by Sister Ryan, P.G.; “Brother Kennedy,” proposed by Sister Hislop, P.G.; “Subordinate Lodges,” proposed by Sister Hunter, P.G., and replied to by Bro. Jack Smith; “Musician,” proposed by Sister Robinson. Items were given by Bro. Davison, and community singing was led by Sister Hunter and Bro. Davison.
