Socialisation Moves
Sir, —I am glad to see that the taxidrivers in Palmerston North are taking a determined stand against the Government’s attempt to socialise their livelihood. It is quite unfair for the Government to seize the war as an excuse to take men’s freedom away. I hear that a similar attempt is being made in Gisborne, and I trust that the public will support the local taxi men in their fight for fair play. The Kuku settlers found that it was only when they took a determined stand and were prepared to fight for their properties that the Government gave up the attempt to dispossess them of their homes; the fishermen in Auckland are getting ready to protect themselves, and it behoves every one to support all groups that are threatened, for if he does not he may find his own living attacked.
