Dominion’s Problems
Sir,—Mr. Nash is telling us that we have to expect things to be far worse and to put up with a lot more in the near future. Our difficulties so far have not been due to the war, for ships are coming to take our produce, and they can bring goods if New Zealand can pay for them. Mr. Savage tells us that everything is all right. It is very disquieting to read Mr. Nash's statements and to hear that instead of economies we are to have a still more swollen Public Service. What, too, is to be done about the main problem, the unemployed drawing £4 13s 4d per \Veek and the man who works on the land and produces what the Empire so badly needs receiving only £3 12s 6d? Is this fair play? COUNTRY WORKER.
