Reputation of New Zealand

Sir, —Mr. Savage is angry with Mr. Goodfellow for bringing back tlic news that New Zealand is in disgrace abroad. Does Mr. Savage object to New Zealanders knowing the facts? Most of us have had some confirmation of Mr. Goodfellow’s statements from the letters ancl reports of Now Zealanders as well as from business connections in England. Facts must be faced. It is no use Mr. Savage declaiming in New Zealand, when the people to be convinced are on the other side of the world. Let him tell them frankly what he proposes to do and what steps he is taking to meet our obligations. New Zealand certainly cannot afford to lose the goodwill ot its best customer. NEW ZEALANDER.
