SEVERE EARTHQUAKE
MINOR DAMAGE CAUSED

(Reed. Get. 29, 11.19 a m.) QUEBEC, Oct. 19. An earthquake in the city of Quebec and its environs stopped clocks at 6.54 a.m. to-day. Many people wen; frightened and ran into the streets. No one was injured, and the damage was negligible.
Minor tremors were felt in Montreal and north-eastern and mid-western portions of the United States. In Boston, the Harvard seismologist reported tremors cf major : ntensity.

western Atlantic were felt in the
entire north-eastern seaboard as far west as Ohio. Dishes rattled, p'cturcs became crooked, automobiles swe-wei, and some houses rocked on their foundations, but the damage was not important.
