THEFT OF CEMENT

AUCKLAND, This Day (P.A.).— For stealing a ton of cement worth £9/16/7 from the Residential Construction Co., at Tamaki, Clarence Payne, aged 23, a driver, was today fined £2O, with costs, -in default six weeks’ gaol, by Mr J. H. Luxford, S.M.

The police said that Payne took his own firm’s truck to where the cement was stored, loaded the bags and drove away just as a night watchman approached.
