AUCKLAND, This Day (P.A.).—Within two years television will be operating on a commercial basis in Sydney and Melbourne, in the opinion of Mr H. O. Wren, director of Celebrity Theatres Pty, Ltd, who arrived in the Aorangi from Sydney this morning. A training centre for technicians had opened in Sydney and a good deal of equipment had been acquired, he said. It might even be possible to start transmitting within eight to 12 months. One manufacturing company was already producing receiving sets. They would retail at about £5O and could be put on the market in six months’ time.
