Seddon Shield “Gate”

The gate receipts at the Shield Rugby match between West Coast and Nelson at Rugby Park, Greymouth, on Saturday, totalled £3Ol. This was almost twice the “gate” for the Nelson challenge (£168), but was about £2O short of the “gate” at Westport when West Coast won the shield from Buller. The takings represent an attendance of almost 3000. The “gate” will be divided between the two unions after the deduction of referee’s expenses.
