TEAM TRAVELS IN COMFORT BY SLEEPER CAR
, Arriving at Greymouth, early this morning in a sleeper car attached to the goods train from Christchurch members of the Southland Association Football team were full of praise for this method of travel when interviewed this morning. A comfortable night’s rest was experienced by the party, and a full day’s travelling saved. The team left Invercargill yesterday at 8 a.m. and changed trains at Rolleston. After supper at Springfield the team went to bed and spent a comfortable night. Although the goods train arrived at* Greymouth about 6 a.m. they were not disturbed until 8 o’clock, the sleeper car being shunted to a siding at the Greymouth railway station where it will remain during the day and be available as headquarters for the party. A railway attendant called the travellers for breakfast. Footwear, placed in the passage the previous evening, had been cleaned and polished and hdt water for- shaving was available. Breakfast was obtained at a local hotel. After playing against the Westland Association football team in the Dawson Cup final . this afternoon, the Southland team will return to their quarters and travel’ to Christchurch with this evening’s goods train. The return journey to Invercargill will be completed by the Sunday night express and their destination will be reached at 1.10 p.m. on Monday. The party comprises 16 members and the manager of the team is Mr G. F. Guy. Arrangements for the journey were made by the Government Tourist Department.
