N.Z. TRANSPORT FLIGHT FOR DUTY AT HONG KONG
AUCKLAND, August 30 (P.A.).-~ To assist and relieve the Royal Air Force at Hong Kong, a detachment of No. 41 (Transport) Squadron, R.N.Z.A.F., will leave Whenuapai in sections between September 15 and the end of the month. The detachment, consisting of three aircraft, fouler ews, and necessary ground staff, 55 officers and other ranks in all, will be commanded by Flight Lieutenant R. Manners and will be based at Changi, Singapore, headquarters of Air ViceMarshal Sir Hugh Lloyd, Air Officei Commanding the Far East. Five of the squadron’s aircraft and six crews will be used in the move from Whenuapai to Changi. Squadron Leader A. H. Harding, D.F.C. officer commanding No. 41 Squadron,- who recently visited Changi and Kai-tak, Hong Kong, will accompany the hrst party and will later return to Kew Zealand.
