The Armed Services Committee of the United States House of Representatives today an investigation into American’s air power policies and aircraft purchases. The investigation follows charges of irregularities in the purchase of 836 bombers manufactured by the Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation, of which the Secretary cf Defence (Mr Louis Johnson) was formerly a director. The chairman of the committee (Mr Carl Vinson) said that the investigation would “find out what lies behind these rumours and innuendoes.”—Washington, May 31.
