LATE NEWS VILLAGES RAIDED
DEPREDATIONS OF INDIAN TERRORISTS (Rec. 3.5 p.m.JU . LONDON, October 14. Murder, looting, arson and abduction are the omen ,bf general widespread disturbances in seven villages : in the Noakhali district, carried on by armed bands- of raiders since Oc'tober 11, according to reports received by the Bengal branch of the All 1 India Orthodox--Hindu Organisation and quoted by- Reuter’s Calcutta correspondent. . He/says that "reports reaching Calcutta state that-’villages were raided over an area of 200 square miles. The raiders carried out forcible mass conI version and the-desecration o.f places |of worship. Bands are guarding the approaches to the affected areas. The Bengal Government announced that it had called out troops and a large force of armed police had been sent to the area.
NATIONALIST ADVANCE IN CHINA ”;i (Rec. 2.45 p.m.) PEKING, Oct. 14.It is authoritatively reported that Nationalist troops yesterday captured Tolun, second largest city iruChahar province, north-east of Kalgan. The troops were ■ .identified as the right-hand column’ of the threepronged Nationalist drive on Kalgan, which was captured last week. Tolun is an important canal caravan centre, controlling the roads leading to Inner Mongolia. TERMS FORTRUCE IN INDONESIA (Rec. 3 p.m.) BATAVIA, October 14. An official communique states that the truce between the Indonesians and the Dutch is based on the stabilisation of the present military positibns and the present ratio of the Allied and Indonesian forces. JEWISH AGENCY’S REQUEST TO BRITAIN (Rec'. 3 p.m.) - JERUSALEM, Oct. 14. The Jewish Agency has asked the British Government to increase the monthly quota of legal Jewish immigration to Palestine from 1500 to at least 4000 during the interim period until the London conference re-opens on Decemebr 16. RIGHTS OF ANGLO-IRANIAN OIL COMPANY (Rec. 3 p.m.) TEHERAN, Oct. 14. Prince Firouz, in a speech, said that Mr. Sultaneh’s Government would always respect the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company’s rights.
