Mr. N. H. Jones, who was the National candidate at the Dunedin North by-election last year, will contest the seat for the National Party this year. His was the only nomination. ' Messrs H. H. Hooper and C. C. de Montalk have taken over Mr W. E. Reynolds’s interest in Richmond and Reynolds, Ltd. Mr Reynolds has retired and will leave for Nelson tomorrow morning. He has been actively identified with sporting bodies in Greymouth for many years. Mr. J. R. Hanan has been selected as the National Party’s candidate for Invercargill. Mr. G. F. M. Stewart had also been nominated. He withdrew his nomination at a meeting of the party’s Invercargill electorate committee last evening. Mr. Hanan, I a solicitor, was Mayor of Invercargill when he joined the army in 1940. He served with the N.Z.E.F. for about four years.
