FOOD FOR BRITAIN

• GREYMOUTH CONTRIBUTION ; SHIPPED ’ The Greymouth Famine Emerg- ’ ency Committee received advice at its meeting this week that all cases of food packed for Britain in Greymouth and the surrounding districts ’ had been shipped from Lyttelton in ’ June. The secretary (Mrs F. W. Shallcrass) reported that a further 5 10 cases of food would be packed at * Greymouth next week. i t was reported that seven cwt. of fat had been collected in Greymouth

and the surrounding districts to date, but members felt that this amount could be increased considerably, farmers and other residents in country districts being mentioned especially. The chairwoman (Mrs F. A. Kitchingham) appealed for. greater interest in the surrendering of meat and butter coupons. She pointed out that, the Greymouth district was nearly the lowest on the list of contributing districts, and urged that each person surrender at least. one meat coupon each week, and whatever butter coupons could be spared. The secretary reported that £6 9/- in sales tax charges in connection with- the Greymouth food drive had been refunded, and this .would enable more goods to be purchased.
